Oman Women Arrested for Car wheel

Two women arrested for driving Oman in Saudi Arabia, where women are not allowed to drive a car. Police arrested the two female driver who was traveling with their families on the road that connects the city of Riyadh with Taef city, in western Arabia.

"A citizen informed the police that patrol the two women driving a car with a driver's license itersebut Oman," Al-Hayat daily reported. The daily added, "Both women were arrested and told that women are not entitled to drive a car. They have signed a commitment not to make that mistake again."

Late last June, Saudi Arabia arrested five Saudi women who drove cars. The women do the insubordination of deliberately driving in the Kingdom are very conservative. Their action is a response to the appeal on the internet to the women in Riyadh to drive a car, after a protest on June 17 where 42 women took to the streets.

Since then the "women every day to challenge the ban in different cities in the kingdom," said an activist who does not want to be named told AFP. He said his own mother has done such a thing in Riyadh. There is no law that officially forbids women to drive in Saudi Arabia. However a religious fatwa has determined that women should be escorted by a driver or a male family member when traveling by car.
